Elena Stylianou

Elena Stylianou is Assistant Professor in Art History and Theory at European University Cyprus, where she founded and coordinates its Cultural Studies and Contemporary Arts Lab. She holds a doctorate in Art Theory and Education from Columbia University, Teachers College, New York and an MA in Museum Studies and Art Education from the same school. She previously held a research postdoctoral fellowship at the University of London, Institute of Education, UK. She has taught at MoMA and the Museum of the City of New York, and has been involved in various curatorial projects. Her fellowships and awards include a Fulbright Scholarship (USA), a Spencer Fellowship Research Training Grant (USA), and an Art Table Museum Fellowship (USA). Her research interests include contemporary art from Cyprus, museums, and photography. Her academic work has been published widely in book chapters and academic journals and she co-edited Museums and Photography: The display of death (Routledge, 2017).
